Save the date – Friday, December 8, 2017. this year's event will be held at Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores, NC.  Details from last year's event: Outer Banks Chefs competed in the 3rd Annual Beach Food Pantry Holiday Chefs Challenge on December 1, 2016 at the Hilton Garden Inn. The chefs had 60 minutes to cook a dish using item(s) that the Beach Food Pantry has in stock, with one of the items having to be a canned good (vegetables, tuna, beans, and the like). “We look forward every year to seeing how creative our local chefs can be using everyday food items,” says Beach Food Pantry Executive Director Theresa Armendarez.  “And, we are especially grateful to each chef for donating their time, talent and resources to help raise money to fight food insecurity in our community.” This year’s participating Outer Banks restaurants/chefs:

Guest Judges Lorraine EatonAmy Huggins Gaw, and Lisa Duff Muglia selected the "Knights of the Culinary Court." Judge choice winners were awarded a purse of "culinary coins" which were added to event attendees' votes for the evening's top honor award of "Crown Prince of Canned Goods."
