Board of Directors

The Beach Food Pantry Board of Directors has 13 members representing various facets of our Outer Banks Community. The Board provides legal, financial, management and program oversight, and guidance to the Pantry's Executive Director. The Board ensures that the organization stays aligned with its mission and values in addition to complying with all federal and state laws. We are pleased to have such wonderful support and representation from across Dare County. 

Executive Committee

President - Richard Bruce - Pigman's Bar-B-Que: "I live but to serve and my service with the Beach Food Pantry makes me feel alive."

Vice President - Robert "Bob" Palombo - Community Member: "I believe that each of us has an obligation to provide whatever level of assistance he/she can provide to make the community a better place for all."

Treasurer - Richard "Rick" Mizelle, Jr, CPA - Johnson, Mizelle, Straub and Murphy, LLP:   

Secretary - Joe Heard - Town of Duck: “Having food on the table is a basic human need.  I’m grateful to be a part the Beach Food Pantry’s efforts to ensure that needy families in Dare County have enough to eat.” 

 

Directors

Linda Allen - Spectrum Reach: 

Crystal Ambrose - Dare County Department of Social Services: "I serve because we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are to take care of those in need."

Juliane Kelly - Outer Banks Visitors Bureau: "I love to serve; I believe it’s our duty to serve those in need."  

John Klamut - Community Member: 

Morgan Mason - The Outer Banks Real Estate Company: "This is my community. I have enough to eat but that isn't true for all our citizens. The needs of others call me to action. The Beach Food Pantry services a portion of our population that would otherwise be underserved. It is an honor to be a part of such essential community work."

Executive Director

Elisabeth Silverthorne serves as the Beach Food Pantry's Executive Director and is responsible for executing the Board's policies, programs, and initiatives. The Executive Director and Board work together to ensure the well-being and future development of the Pantry. "I am humbled and amazed every day by the commitment of our volunteers, financial donors and Board. I have yet to see a day where our help wasn't needed, or a day where our clients weren't served by happy hearts! It is truly an honor to be a part of this organization."
